Tournament Overview

XpressBet account holders are eligible to participate in several rich, entertaining, and challenging online handicapping tournaments. Over the last two years XpressBet has awarded nearly $300,000 in cash and qualifying seats as prizes to winners.

Besides having large purses, XpressBet handicapping tournaments are attractive events for both experienced and novice tournament players because fields are limited to XpressBet account holders only, thereby cutting down on the number of foes you need to out-handicap for prizes and qualifying seats.

Plus, players can compete in XpressBet online tournaments without having to travel to distant locations.

Isn't it about time you joined in the fun?

The overall objective in XpressBet’s tournament sequence is for a player to earn prize money and a qualifying seat in XpressBet Showdown either through competition in the Beat the Host Championship or XpressBet Live. Players who do not qualify for XpressBet Showdown may buy-in with a $500 entry fee.

XpressBet's tournaments are ‘live’ money competitions so players keep what they earn in addition to cash prizes and qualifying seats. Entry fees range from $0 in Beat the Host, to $50 for XpressBet Live and $500 for XpressBet Showdown. Wager amounts vary from $5 per mandatory race in Beat the Host, to $10 per mandatory race in XpressBet Live, to $20 per mandatory race in XpressBet Showdown.

Here’s a brief description of each tournament. Make certain to look for announcements regarding upcoming tournaments so you can be part of the action.

Beat the Host

The object of Beat the Host is to exceed the host’s cumulative mutuel payoff based on single, ‘live’ $5 online win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race.

There is no entry fee to participate in Beat the Host and weekly cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers. Additionally, all players who ‘Beat the Host’ in weekly competition automatically qualify for the Beat the Host Championship where they compete for cash prizes and qualifying seats in the main event—XpressBet Showdown.

A substantial Sweep the Host Bonus is offered to players who exceed the host’s total in each week throughout the competition.

Please look for an announcement regarding dates, rules and registration information for the next edition of Beat the Host.

XpressBet Live

The object of XpressBet Live is to out-handicap fellow XpressBet account holders based on total mutuel payoffs from single, ‘live’ $10 online win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race.

XpressBet Live has a $50 entry fee. Cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers and qualifying seats in the rich XpressBet Showdown tournament are at stake.

XpressBet Showdown

This is the main event where XpressBet account holders can make some decent scores. Just ask Jack Demita ($40,000), Stephen Speros ($20,000), Tim Downs ($20,000), John West ($15,000), Russell Kimura ($10,000) or Cleveland Piper ($10,000) what they think of XpressBet Showdown.

This year it could be your turn to win.

The object of XpressBet Showdown is to out-handicap fellow XpressBet account holders based on total mutuel payoffs from single, ‘live’ $20 win wagers on one horse in each mandatory race. XpressBet Showdown has a $500 entry fee, but players may qualify for the event via either the Beat the Host Championship or XpressBet Live.

Besides earning big bucks, the top two finishers in XpressBet Showdown qualify for the estimated $1 million Coast Casinos Horseplayer World Series in Las Vegas.

Fantasy Magna 5

XpressBet's $100,000 Fantasy Magna 5 is an online contest that challenges players to select the winners of all five Magna 5 races by choosing just one horse in each race. The competition is FREE and available to XpressBet account holders only.

There is no charge to open an XpressBet account. $10,000 in cash will be awarded weekly (10 weeks) to any single player who selects all five winners. If more than one player selects all five winners in the same week the pot will be divided equally among the winners. If no one selects all five winners, the current weekly prize will be carried over to the following week's competition and added to that weekly prize.

The first presentation of Fantasy Magna 5 was in 2008.

Sweep the Crown

Sweep the Crown adds some spice to the Triple Crown for XpressBet account holders. Players are challenged to make a $25 'live' wager on one horse to win, place or show in three mandatory races-Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont.

Players are then ranked and awarded cash prizes according to their total earnings in all three races.

Additionally, a Sweep the Crown bonus is in play for players who correctly make all three mandatory wagers to win.

Sweep the Crown's first presentation was in May of 2008.
