ELMONT, N.Y. - Horseplayers will be greeted with a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $63,018 for Friday's live racing program at Belmont Park. The multi-race wager begins in Race 4 with an approximate post time of 3:04 p.m.
Thursday's Pick 6 sequence kicked off in race 5 with Classic Covey ($9.80) followed by: Very Very Stella ($16.40), Lady Bergen ($16.60), Hoboe ($7), Hey Jabber Jaw ($17.00) and Jergos Fire ($9) taking the day's finale.
A consolation payout of $2,717 was awarded to bettors who had five of six winners.
Here are free picks for Races 5 and 7 from Xpressbet's NYRA handicapper, Brian Nadeau:
Race 5
#5 Feed Me Carats: Price player was a close 4th at the level two-back, with a figure that puts her on the line with these, and with Jose Ortiz named, it says Jeremiah means business; look out.
#10 Very Fashionable: Dangerous newcomer makes her first start for Rice after a trio with the since-retired Hushion, and not she won her debut on the turf, and this barn can blow them up; scary.
#1 Rimanisempreforte: ML favorite is best on figures and drops stiffly in class too, out of a decent N1X run, but Brown is his typical cold self, so taking an underlaid price isn't appealing; trying to beat.
Race Summary: The price should be right on the 5, who should like getting back to the turf and has run just once over the surface, so play her in all the slots and to end the Pk5 and early Pk4 too, as she could fall through the wagering cracks, and a win would add a lot of value to both sequences.
Race 7
#9 So Noted: Huge closing longshot has some middling form for Baker but now catches a field loaded with speed, and his last was a sign he's moving forward, so he could blow this up; bombs away late.
#4 West Hills Giant: Diodoro re-claim (he's on suspension so will run for his assistant Atras) has the right kind of stalking gear in this speedy field, and if you toss the turf run last time, he's got the form; must-use.
#6 Jewel Can Disco: The horse to beat has won two straight and did it impressively, but this is a tougher group and with all the other speed entered, he may have a hard time lasting; comes up empty in the lane.
Race Summary: Pace makes the race and this one is absolutely loaded with early speed, so while the 9 isn't a likely winner, he does fit the race profile, will be a huge price and goes for a Baker barn that is as sharp as they come, so give him a look in all the slots and in the late Pk4 too, as he has the ability to outrun his odds and get a big piece of this, at a big price too.
