Our team on the ground at Santa Anita caught up with jockey Abel Cedillo ahead of Memorial Day Monday's Grade 1 Gamely Stakes.

Q: Abel how do you feel about riding here at Santa Anita on Memorial Day in the Grade I Gamely aboard Keeper Ofthe Stars?

A: Feels good, feels great. Especially with the mare that I ride Keeper Ofthe Stars. I feel great.

Q: Keeper Ofthe Stars is the defending champion. She won this race last year, you were the jockey tell us about that. What do you remember from her winning the Gamely last year?

A: Well, I was a little surprised when we won the Gamely last year, because nobody really believed in her. Even the trainer didn't think she would win. But I always believe in my horses when I ride. Especially in big races like the Grade I Gamely, I always give it 100%. I believed in her last year and we won. I believe in her again this year. And I think she is doing really good right now. She ran a couple up times up north and I've been watching. She is doing great.

Q: Speaking of up north she ran second in the San Francisco Mile against boys. A runner that is running today Whisper Not just beat her by a head. She looks like she is in excellent form. What is the strategy going into this big race.

A: Well, I think she will be double tough this time. If she repeats that race sh ran in the San Francisco Mile against the boys she be tough in the Gamely on Monday.

Q: She’s got speed, but she doesn’t need the lead where do you expect to be in the race?

A: Well, I'm just going try to break well and do the same thing I did last year, hopefully that will work and we will win again. I believe in her!
