ILLINOIS DERBY CONTEST OVERVIEW
- LIVE MONEY CONTEST ON SUNDAY, APRIL 21, 2024
- Buy-in: $800 ($800 Bankroll, No Entry Fee)
- Online registration begins approximately 96 hours in advance of the tournament.
- Entries will be accepted up until the start of Hawthorne Race 3 on Sunday, April 21.
PRIZES
- 1st Place Finisher: $6,000 cash; and entry to the 2024 Hawthorne Invitational; and choice of either a 2024 Breeders Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) entry or a 2025 National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) entry inclusive of a $1,000,000 bonus if this entry wins the NHC
- 2nd Place Finisher: $3,000 cash; entry into 1 Hawthorne Contest; and the remaining of either the BCBC or NHC entry with the $1,000,000 bonus from the 1st place prize
- 3rd Place Finisher: 2025 NHC entry, and 1 Hawthorne Contest entry
- 4th Place Finisher: $1,000 cash and 1 Hawthorne Contest entry
- 5th Place Finisher: 2 Hawthorne Contest entries
- 6th Place Finisher - 10th Place Finisher: 1 Hawthorne Contest entry
FORMAT
- Players may wager on any races at Hawthorne Race Course culminating with the Illinois Derby.
- Any races offered at Hawthorne Race Course following the Illinois Derby are not included in this tournament. The Illinois Derby is the final race in the tournament.
- Permitted wagers are Win, Place, Show, Exacta and Daily Double.
- No Trifecta, Superfecta, Super High 5, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5, Pick 6 wagers are permitted in this contest. The Parlay function for Win, Place and Show wagers is not permitted in this contest.
- Players must wager, at minimum, their entire $800 bankroll during the contest.
- Each player must wager on a minimum of $100 on at least four races prior to the Illinois Derby (daily double wagers will count as 1 race wagered for the purpose of minimums).
- Players must wager a minimum of $200 on the Illinois Derby, the final race of the Contest.
- There are no maximums – players may wager as much as they want, including the winnings from their bankroll, whenever they wish.
- For purposes of this contest, a Daily Double wager counts as a bet on one (1) contest race. For example, a Daily Double wager on Race 4 (linking to Race 5) will count as a wager on Race 4.
- If more than 5 races are canceled at Hawthorne on the Contest Day, Contest Officials reserve the right to substitute races at another track or cancel the Contest outright.
