Solomini: If you handicap 2-D and not 3-D, as in you focus on what’s on paper and not on video or in front of your eyes, then Solomini looks as attractive as many in this crop. You won’t find a bad race on his ledger and he had a very solid freshman foundation. Trainer Bob Baffert and owner Zayat Stables don’t have American Pharoah on their hands this time, but his capable resume makes you take a second look. But when you (literally) focus and see him struggle to change leads in races and seldom work with any vigor like a star horse, you wonder if the ‘it’ factor can appear against a very strong crop at the top.
