The Wood Memorial Stakes is an annual American horse race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds held in April at Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park, Queens, New York. The track is 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) long and is run on dirt. Since 2017, the Wood Memorial has been classified as a Grade II event. It was a Grade I race twice, from 1974-1994 and from 2002-2016.
The Wood Memorial is a significant prep race for the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Eleven winners of the Wood Memorial went on to win the Kentucky Derby between 1930 and 2000, and four of them also won the Triple Crown. In 1973, Secretariat finished third in the Wood Memorial.
