Scioto Downs has a 17-race card with the headliners coming in Race 12 the Charlie Hill Memorial Trot with a $260,000 purse, and in Race 13 the Jim Ewart Memorial Pace with a $250,000 purse. The $1.00 All-Stakes Pick 3 starts in Race 11, and it will be my focus.

Don't forget to register for the Bet $10 get a $10 refund on Win bets that finish 2nd or 3rd in the Hill Memorial or the Ewart Memorial.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11-Ohio Sires Stakes Trot (9:32 PM EST)

3-Legacy Affair (5/2)-The Duke Sugg filly has won 2 of the last 3 impressively and sandwiched in between was a costly break in stride in a Sires Stakes race at Nfld. Could win getting on the point or coming off cover and has hit the board in 9 of 14 at Scioto with 4 pictures. Ronnie Wrenn should have the Long Tom filly in position to win at the top of the last turn
4-Jurassic Hattie (3-1)-Faded in last which was the first start on Lasix but was off for 19 days between races. Expecting more and using anticipating the price will be better than the morning line. Does good work at ScD hitting the board in 5 of 6 and has cashed the top check 3 times.
6-Createaqueen (7-1)-Broke stride in 2 Red Mile races and then requalified there on 8-27 with a nice effort. Willing to to use at a price and maybe the clay surface in Kentucky was the cause. The usual pilot Dan Noble is back between the pipes, hasn't missed the board at ScD in 5 starts and has taken 2 pictures. Will take a swing, and this sequence could use a price shot.

Race 12-Charlie Hill Memorial Trot (9:52 PM EST)

10-Refined (7/2)-The Virgil Morgan mare is shooting for its 3rd straight and this post draw doesn’t help the cause. But could get away okay off the gate if Ake Svanstedt leaves with the rail horse and that should happen. Dan Noble can provide a sharp steer and could win on the lead or rallying off cover around the last turn. The post helps the price and knows how to win at Scioto taking 26 pictures in 55 races.
4-Lexus Kody (9/2)-The Ron Burke pupil always seems to be in the hunt at the wire. Probably needs to have the lead around the last turn to win. But it would be best to respect chances of cashing the top check with this post draw and Chris Page driving.

Race 13-Jim Ewart Memorial Pace (10:12 PM EST)

5-Little Rocket Man (7/2)-The Ken Rucker veteran has Dave Miller in the bike, is tough as nails and sharp as a tack. The 8-year-old has won 7 of the last 8 races, and has hit the board in 11 of 14 with 8 wins at Scioto. Draws the top post and with a clean trip should be difficult to beat.
1-Charlie May (4-1)-Drawing the rail might not the best for the Steve Carter trainee but he should land in a good seat off the gate. The key factor is Charlie is in sharp form and knows how to tackle the leader down the lane. Has only one win this year and that came at Scioto in his last start. Smoked the back half in a 53.2 to get up in time and the fractions could be just as hot tonight.
