Yonkers Raceway has a 9-race card with 0.50 Pick 5 starting in Race 5. That sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 rolls in Race 6, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:40 PM EST)

1-Ultimaroca (6-1)-Will need a big try but this group isn’t out of reach after drawing the rail. Jim Marohn is a new set of hands and that may help the price. Should be on top or in the pocket at an attractive price.
4-Leonidas A (10-1)-Beat similar 4 back with an efficient trip. Drops and the 10-1 morning line seems unlikely but should still offer some value. Comes back in sequence unlike the last race and could be sitting on a big try.
5-Act Fast (5/2)-The Burke trainee has not been able to seal the deal in a while. But should like the company and can be put in play from the word go. Yannick Gingras will be aggressive versus this kind and could get on the engine and not look back.

Race 7 (9:00 PM EST)

2-Aardies Flash N (5/2)-Went off at 2/5 last time and drew off in its Yonkers debut. Loses Bartlett who isn’t here but Gingras can do the job. Sealed the deal on 11-13 with a .55 back half. Steps up but looks like a good one from down under and should be the best again with this favorable post draw.

Race 8 (9:20 PM EST)

1-Whats Stanley Got A (4-1)-Leaving from the rail should help and shouldn’t blush at this group. Using at a square price and thinking a pocket trip could be coming.
3-Rocknroll Runa A (7/2)-Dropped and popped and now moves up but this affair is well within reach. Got the top and stood tall in last. Larry Stalbaum will leave to get the jump on the program chalk #4. Could get the point and not be tackled.

Race 9 (9:40 PM EST)

5-Twig (5/2)-Gingras gets the call and to no surprise the pedal should be down and when the dust clears this
6-year-old should be on the point. Twig is camera shy but did come 2nd in the first start for the Quevedo barn. Fell short of the winner but raced better. Could take a picture if builds off that effort.
8-Im A Powerplay A (15-1)-Swinging for a price and if ANap times the gate well this veteran could surprise in the first race off a claim for the Laterza barn. Won its last start from the rail for the same outfit back on 11-4. Probably won’t be 15-1 but could still offer a nice return.
