Northfield Park has a 16-race card with the first post scheduled for 6:00 PM EST. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool with a 14% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

6-Windsong Patriot (7-1)-Comes off a win at this level, but Hunter Myers was able to control the pace, so may not get much credit and could be overlooked. Has the gate speed to get a good early seat and will respect chances to double up.
8-Highland Mowgli (2-1)-Winner of 5 straight, the last 3 from post 8 can be a main player again. Ronnie Wrenn should be leaving, and the only obvious speed inside is #4-Smoking Jet the other Burke entry.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EST)

1-Downbythedanceclub (5-1)-Going to use the "other" Burke entry that can offer more value and may end up with a pocket trip. Tossing last from post 8 should be in the mix if Greg Grismore provides a smooth steer.
7-Wicked Character (2-1)-The Burke trainee put in a needed start against Open company after arriving from Dayton. The barns top call pilot takes the lines and can be a main player if dialed on high.

Race 13 (10:24 PM EST)

1-JuJu Hanover (2-1)-Raced better in last and didn't get the smoothest of trips but in general recent form has been dull. This is a wake up opportunity, draws the rail and meets a beatable field. Probably needs to be leading coming into the stretch to take a picture and that trip is possible.
3-Risen Man (5-1)-Has hit the board in 17 of 34 starts but the Milner trainee has only posted 2 wins. But has been stuck with poor post draws in the last 4 starts and does get a new set of hands in Justin Irvine. Could offer a square price, should relish the company and the post relief.

Race 14 (10:46 PM EST)

2-Louis The Horse N (5/2)-Beaten chalk showed some life off the gate in last but couldn't stand tall down the lane. Usually hangs around but can't seal the deal and does burn money. That said, this is a suspect group, and Aaron Merriman could muscle his way to the top. Probably has a better chance of winning by getting on the engine.
3-Western Beachboy (7/2)-Arrives from Dayton and has done well in the 3 races at Nfld (3-2-0-1). Has enough gate speed to be forwardly placed throughout. May like the change of scenery and a pocket ride could be in the cards.
