Hawthorne Racecourse has a compact 8-race card. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 2, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 2 (7:30 PM CST)

1-High Ho Hez Silver (6/5)-Left from the rail, got a pocket trip, and then pulled away at 4/5. Winner of 4 in a row comes right back to beat up on the same kind again.

Race 3 (7:50 PM CST)-

1-Boardwalk Jack (7-1)-Ships in from DTN after a no move mile in a needed race. Casey Leonard steers for the Searle barn and they combine for 27% winners. May have met a beatable field and will look for a suck-around trip.
2-Fox Valley Cayman (10-1)-Won versus this kind and then had a slow start the following week. Looks worthy of a swing at a healthy price. Mike Oosting should be racing with the leaders when the wings fold.
6-Mustang Beach (2-1)-Didn't race poorly in last but has an issue sealing the deal. The 1-35 record this year indicates the same. Not liking the short price but this is a scattered bunch and with a top try could take an overdue picture.

Race 4 (8:10 PM CST)

4-Rockin Pulse (4-1)-Finished a well beaten 2nd after staying inside last week. Wyatt Avenatti will probably look to stalk and come off cover down the lane.
5-Fox Valley Langley (5/2)-Comes off a sharp effort on a sloppy track and pulled away. Steps up but has won 6 of 15 at Haw. Should fit and is a double up possibility.
6-Town Gossip (4-1)-This is an on and off sort and has been dull in the last 2 races. But the last start came from the 8 hole and didn't get the best of trips. Should be a fair price and has beat this kind before. Will respect chances of that happening again.

Race 5 (8:30 PM CST)

3-Fox Valley Landen (5-1)-Came off the bench with a sharp qualifier on 12-14. Will look for team Husted to have the 4-year-old ready to fire hot off the bench.
7-He'zzz A Wise Sky (3-1)-Faded down the lane in the last 2 races and this will be the 3rd start in sequence since shipping back from DTN. Starts inside of the winner last week #8, who came out of the pocket and rolled by. This time could get the point without burning as much gas and not look back.
