Cal Expo has a 9-race card to wrap up the weekend. The 0.20 Late Pick 4 rolls in Race 6. The sequence has a $20,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:15 PM PST)

1-Daniel's Son (3-1)-Drops to a comfortable level, has hit the board versus better and was somewhat pace compromised last week. The program chalk may look to go gate to wire tonight.
7-Cut A Rug (5-1)-Out raced its odds last time and didn't get the best of drives. Won't be 24-1 on the drop but fits well and could benefit from a sharp steer.
8-Hoo Nien A (12-1)-Has had excuses, broken equipment and not the best trips starting outside. Starts outside again but beat this kind 3 back and that effort could win here. Jerry Longo needs to have in play by the 3/4's pole, if so, could pop at a big price.

Race 7 (8:35 PM PST)

1-Fiftyshadesofcray (12-1)-Will look for some value and fade the program chalk #7 in this leg. This mare should be a big number and has been racing from the back. Gets class relief and Nick Roland could be aggressive in the 4th start in his barn.
2-Princessofthedawn (4-1)-This will be the 3rd straight start at CalX after coming off the bench. This mare has won 9 of 28 races at CalX and Renee Goulet could work a cozy trip. Should be in the mix and might go off higher than the morning line odds.
3-Made Of Miscchief (4-1)-Gets a positive driver change in James Kennedy and has hit the board in 10 of 15 at CalX with 5 pictures. Races well at the top of stack and should be racing with the leaders this time.

Race 8 (8:35 PM PST)

3-Divine Art (3-1)-Has been racing evenly versus better and now takes a meaningful drop. If Longo can be within reach of the leaders at the top of the lane the 6-year-old could finish fastest of all.
6-Midnight Zen (7/2)-Left, was hung the mile last week and faded down the lane to finish 4th. Lemoyne Svendsen should be out and rolling when the wings fold. But this time may get a 2-hole trip and look to be the best down the lane.

Race 9 (9:15 PM PST)

2-Miso Classy (7/2)-A dry track could help and was able to pass foes down the stretch in the last 2 races on a "good' track. Is only 1 for 10 on a wet surface, and should be in line for a smoother trip this time.
7-Lickcreek Speedway (3-1)-Luke Plano will likely look to leave and there isn't much gate speed inside. Does good work at CalX (91-19-18-5) and this race could set up nicely for the veteran mare.
