Hawthorne Racecourse has a compact 8-race card. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 2, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 2 (7:30 PM CST)

1-Cool Blues Man (4-1)-Drops after getting a rough trip against $8k claimers. Lands at a spot to shine and Kyle Wilfong should have the veteran forwardly placed throughout.
5-Foxman (5/2)-Like the one above won't be facing $8k claimers tonight and drops to the level of recent success. Beat this kind 2 straight in December and is a logical play at a short price.
7-Key Ingrediant (7/2)-Beat this kind 2 back, drawing the outside helps the price and might not hurt chances for another picture. Casey Leonard can work a winning trip with this grinder in a competitive affair.

Race 3 (7:50 PM CST)

1-Firing Onall Fours (5-1)-Gets a positive driver change in Wilfong and drawing the rail should help as well. Has hit the board in 5 of 6 at Haw with 2 pictures and should be racing at the top of the stack when the wings fold.
4-Galliant Attribute (6/5)-Went gate to wire from the 7-hole last time and this could be a bigger challenge. The short price isn't easy to swallow but gets post relief and will respect chances.

Race 4 (8:10 PM CST)

2-Sailor Sam (5/2)-Hasn't sealed the deal for a while and just missed in last. Brandon Bates gets the call for the 2nd straight steer, and this time might get the pocket behind the program choice.
5-Flickadawrist (2-1)-Jim Eaton 4-year-old has won 3 straight and the last 2 were versus this kind. The morning line chalk should get the top again and with a smooth journey the win streak could continue.

Race 5 (8:30 PM CST)

3-Grand Champ (6-1)-Usual pilot Casey Leonard is in the bike and he has options with this post draw. Takes a sizeable drop but still could offer a square price. Looks like a drop and pop situation.
4-Fox Valley Cayman (5/2)-Recent form has been dull but has been facing tougher. Bates could work a nice, covered trip and look to be the best down the lane.
