Cal Expo has an 8-race card with the 0.20 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 5. The sequence has a $20,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 5 (8:05 PM PST)

1-Alien Art Form (3-1)-Hung on gamely to take a picture last week. The Ryan Grundy barn has been clicking and should make the most of the post draw. Best to respect, was off 3 weeks before the last race and comes back in sequence tonight.
2-What Cheer (9/2)-Rolled the back half in .58 to post the 1st win of the year. James Kennedy steered in last and sticks here. The Roland trainee could benefit from an honest pace and should be passing foes down the lane.
4-Gandalf (5-1)-Raced well and was used a couple of times last week to finish 3rd, a neck behind. Sean Smithpeters gets the steer this time on another Roland entry (2-8). This pilot won with the 4-year-old on 1-10, this will be 2nd time for Lasix and should offer a square price.

Race 6 (8:25 PM PST)

1-Capt Jack Hanover (3-1)-Went gate to wire to win last week after coming off an injured scratch. Comes right back against the same kind and could upset the morning line choice.
2-Allmyx'sliventexas (2-1)-Takes a drop to a spot to shine if the 12-year-old throws its best punch. Logical choice hasn't been in this soft in a long time.

Race 7 (8:45 PM PST)

2-Dance Traveler (7/5)-This 8-time winner in 2023 is 0-4 this year and takes a good drop searching for a picture. Should be there at the wire but will offer no value and can't fully trust.
4-The Last Walz (7/2)-Hooked wheels last week and had a rough trip the race before at this class. Using under the assumption will go off at a better price than the program odds and could down this crew with a sharp steer.

Race 8 (9:05 PM PST)

6-Divne Art (2-1)-Beat this kind 2 back and then moved up in class and took the long way around. Drops and faces a beatable field if Jerry Longo does his part.
7-Kitty Wampus (5/2)-Winner in 3 of the last 4 lands at a competitive level and the Luke Plano trainee looks like a main player. Starts outside, that helps the price and should be forwardly placed off the gate.
