Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis | Monday, February 17, 2025

Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card with the $1.00 Pick 5 starting in Race 5. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 rolls in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 7 (8:45 PM EST)

2-Twin B Powerball (12-1)-Price shot drops to a competitive level. Showed good gate speed against this kind back in December and won going gate to wire. Pat Lachance owns, trains and drives. The veteran could surprise at a big number with the right trip.
5-All Alone (5/2)-Drew off by >5 lengths on 1-28. Then bumped up to this condition, got stuck with the 7-hole and that didn’t work well. Could make amends with this post draw and gets a positive driver change in Jason Bartlett.

Race 8 (9:05 PM EST)

2-Binge On Yankee (5-1)-Does step up but could be competitive at this level leaving from post 2 and usual pilot Jordan Stratton is back. Left hard from the 4-hole in last and got the top into quick fractions. Then settled for the pocket when the well-meant winner retook. The Gillis barn has been cold, but this 5-year-old raced better than the line looks and could be tough to stop at a square price.
5-Blue Lou (5/2)-This is the other 5-yr-old in the field and is making its 2nd start off the bench. Has won 5 of 10 and Bartlett will be steering for Per Engblom. The son of Sweet Lou has big gate speed and could be on the point or in the pocket when the wings fold. Looks like a main player after putting in a necessary start here on 2-10.

Race 9 (9:25 PM EST)

1-The Ideal Dancer A (9/5)-Dropped and popped with a .56 last half and now gets its usual pilot Jason Bartlett between the pipes. This looks like a great spot to double up. Could get on the engine off the gate and should be difficult to tackle.

Race 10 (9:45 PM EST)

1-Renaissance Deo (8/5)-The 4-year-old drops and has hit the board 12 of 16 at YR with 4 wins. Doesn't have big gate speed and recent form hasn't been sharp. Could wire this crew with a top try but can't trust being able to pass foes to win.
2-Pop It (3-1)-Come off the bench and wired the last field from the rail. Steps-up and raced well in last especially considering that was the 1st race since 11-29. Could be getting ready for Hoosier to open but best to respect, the 4-year-old has some speed.
5-Rock N Talkin (5/2)-Mohawk shipper lands in the Megan Scran barn and Bartlett gets the call. Those two combine for 25% winners and the 8-year-old was facing better up North. Comes back in 9-days and had a 152.1 mark at Yonkers last year. Looks like a main player if dialed on high in the 1st start in town.
