Northfield Park begins the week with a 15-race card. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 11. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Race 11 (9:40 PM EST)

2-The Longest Yard (5/2)-Makes the 1st start for the Smith barn and Aaron Merriman is posting 26% winners when the 2 combine. Hasn't raced since 9-1 but comes off 2 sharp qualifiers at the Mea. The last tune up was a 154.3 win on 3-4, and could be set to fire hot off the bench.
7-Night Shadow (2-1)-Went gate to wire at 2/5 and comes back against the same kind. Looking for its 3rd straight, is a logical play at a small price.

Race 12 (10:02 PM EST)

1-Magic Hill (1/1)-Drew off on a sloppy track as a heavy chalk. Likes to get on the engine, and this post draw helps the cause. Faces a bit tougher and can't be overlooked leaving from the rail.
6-Lous Private Eye (6-1)-Blasted out from post 8, landed on the point and faded down the lane to lose by a 1/2 length. The post relief should help, and the last race came after a sick scratch. Can be in the hunt at a square price.

Race 13 (10:24 PM EST)

2-Sure Thing Captain (5/2)-Took the long way around as an odds chalk and raced a game 2nd. Faces tougher but the 5-year-old has been in sharp form and has won 4 of 7 at Nfld. Merriman will likely be on the point and controlling the mile.
Has a post edge, does have good gate speed, and looks like a main player.

Race 14 (10:46 PM EST)

4-Fame And Power (15-1)-Drops to a level of recent success and the price is right to take a swing. Could surprise if Tyler Angus provides a sharp steer.
6-Lyons Snyder (7-1)-This is another that should offer a nice price and drops to a competitive level. Does good work racing near the top of the stack and has the gate speed to get there.
9-Elver Hanover (8/5)-Came off the bench to finish a close 6th and now takes a good drop to a spot to shine. Has won 20 of 90 starts at Nfld and hasn't been in this soft in a long time. Ronnie Wrenn has posed with the veteran before, and he is capable of working a winning trip from the 2nd tier.
