Hoosier Park completes its opening weekend with a 14-race card. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a low 12% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (7:50 PM EDT)

4-LLoyd Wright (3-1)-Will take a swing the Jeff Cullipher trainee will have continued success at HoP. In 24 Hoosier starts this 5-year-old has taken 7 pictures. Should fit nicely with this group and has good early speed to race at the top of the stack.
5-Northern Rocks (3-1)-Miami shipper lands in the Alvin Miller barn and John DeLonge does the steering. The veteran does good work at HoP (102-17-16-12) and when Miller and DeLonge team up they post 31% winners.

Race 7 (8:09 PM EST)

1-Midnight Magic (7-1)-Will look for some prices in this affair. Comes off a decent qualifier against much better and is a suck around trip out candidate,
2-Through The Storm (9/5)-Program chalk ships in from MVR and recent form has been dull. Not going to toss but will hope for others with better value.
5-Papa Verlin (7-1)-Went 56.3 in the back half in its 3-8 qualifier and should be much closer to the lead off the gate tonight. Looking for a smooth trip and could pop at a nice price if fires hot of the bench.
8-He's A Beach (4-1)-Ohio shipper tangled with some nice 2-year-olds there and comes off 2 good qualifiers at HoP. Marvin Luna steers and he can work the right journey from the outside. Best to respect and did win its only start in Indiana last summer.

Race 8 (8:28 PM EDT)

5-Some Kinda Nght (8/5)-MVR shipper has had mixed reviews recently but could have been in too tough. Should relish the company and be ready to take a picture in its HoP debut. Banked over $77K last year and hit the board in 9 of 12 at Hoosier with 1 picture.

Race 9 (8:47 PM EDT)

4-Ryans Ambassador (5-1)-Marcus Miller steers for another old Illinois circuit member Neil Coleman. The qualifier was good, came home in fine fashion. Went a 57.4 back half with a 26.4 last panel and was on the bench in Ohio since 12-15.
7-Shanghai Bobby (4-1)-Arrives from MVR and was racing well in the 2 starts this year. Did win versus this kind at Hoosier last year and was consistently in the hunt.
