Hoosier Park has a 14-race card, and 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a very low 12% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 6 (7:55 EDT)
3-Trump The Warrior (6/5)-This 3-year-old made its career debut last week and fell a neck short. The last winner isn't in this contest and will be the racing for the 2nd time with hopples. John DeLong should work a cozy trip and be good enough down the lane to take a picture.
7-Ponda Bear (7/2)-The Rick Plano barn has come out hot winning 2 of 5 races last weekend. The Swan For All 3-year-old comes off a sharp qualifier and should be in the hunt at the wire.
Race 7 (8:15 EDT)
3-Ever A JK (9/5)-The Zachary Miller veteran has hit the board in 30 of 65 HoP races with 12 pictures. Ships in from MVR and lands in a good spot to win at first asking in Anderson. The only cause for pause is being off since 2-19 but has been facing better and knows how to win at HoP.
7-Martz Renee (5-1)-Paced the back half in 56.4 on a sloppy track in a needed start. Could be ready for a more aggressive steer and comes back against the same kind. A fast track wouldn't hurt, and my guess is Lewayne Miller won't be 10 lengths back at the half pole.
Race 8 (8:35 EDT)
3-Dash Of Luck (4-1)-Was used hard into a 27.2 opening quarter in the slop. Got on the point from post 7 but faded to finish 2nd. Faces the same kind in the 2nd start in town. Getting post relief and racing on a dry track could be the winning difference.
7-Dashing Danny (5-1)-Comes off an even effort in the 1st start since 11-29. The Cullipher trainee has 9 wins in 25 races at HoP banking over $392k on that surface. When Kyle Wilfong steers for this outfit he posts 27% winner and at this price is well worth a swing.
Race 9 (8:55 EDT)
3-Brookview Bolt (9/2)-Raced well in the slop in the 1st start since 1-12. Did win 9 of 27 last year and the veteran has captured over 27 of 99 races at HoP. Trace Tetrick can get position near the top of the stack and should be right there at the wire.
5-Drink Up Drink Up (5/2)-Came off the bench in its 1st race since 11-30 and got on the engine but faded late to miss by a nose. Fits well, is a logical player and could be bet down.
