Cal Expo has a 9-race card with the 0.50 Late Pick 4 starting Race 6. The sequence has a $25,000 guaranteed pool with a 16% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:25 PM PDT)

2-Ragged But Right (3-1)-Won its 2nd straight off a cozy trip and steps up again. There are reasons to think the winning streak could end but draws well enough to get another efficient trip. Won in 1.53 flat and that was the fastest time of the night. Probably could go faster but may not be necessary to post another win.
5-Allmyx'sliventexas (5/2)-Got shuffled out of contention and got an awful trip. Did break at the top of the lane and not sure if that is a point of concern. Couldn't see any interference but the race was over by that time. Drops and is now at a level where a win could happen.

Race 7 (8:45 PM PDT)

2-Cenalta Token (8/5)-This mare is 0-8 this year but is difficult to leave off the ticket. The morning line price reflects the drop to this TM66 level. Should be in charge versus this group if runs its best race, but that's not a sure thing.
5-Outlawbutntpopcorn (9/2)-Did pass horses down the lane but was no match for a well-meant winner. This is the 2nd start at this level and may look to take control when the wings fold. Needs the right trip, as is the case with the entire field. Should be in the mix and for top honors if the morning line choice isn't dialed on high.

Race 8 (9:05 PM PDT)

2-JK Cache Meoutside (2-1)-Came 2nd to a winner that was simply at an entirely different level. Should be in line for a cozy trip and may have met a beatable field. Will look for Nick Roland to have the 3-year-old in play when the wings fold.
6-Tutto Bene (9/2)-Was used off the gate and like the one above was no match for the winner. Should offer a square price and this race is within reach. Jesse Pacheco needs to find a good close-up seat and is a player with a smooth trip.

Race 9 (9:25 PM PDT)

6-Dancin Lance (5/2)-Takes a significant drop from Open company. Did cash small checks at that level and beat the NW3500L4 on 2-28. Should relish the company and with a smooth journey it could be picture time but the morning line price may not hold up. Comes right back and driver Sean Smithpeters has had success steering the Pacheco trainee.
